The University of Northeastern Philippines acknowledges students who are academically excellent through giving honors. More so, it give awards to students that have shown active participation in the University activities and have actively contributed to their own organization.
GENERAL POLICY
All academic honors are awarded to full-time, regular students with minimum academic load per semester according to the prescribed curriculum with no incomplete grades in any of the subject enrolled.
CLASSIFICATION OF ACADEMIC HONORS
DEAN’s LISTER – Dean’s listers are students who obtain a minimum weighted average of 1.50 during the previous semester, guidelines:
- Computation of weighed average should be based on the student’s academic performance during end of every 1st semester of the current school year.
- Each College should determine and reward its own Dean’s Listers.
COLLEGE HONORS – College honors are awarded to students who belong to the top 10% of the class with a minimum weighted average of 1.50 during the previous two (2) semesters, guidelines:
- Computation of weighted average should be based on student’s academic performance during the 1st and 2nd semesters of the current school year.
- This honor is awarded to the student top notchers in every year level in each college.
University Honors are awarded to student top notchers who are recipient of college honors with a minimum weighted average of 1.25 for the past three (3) consecutive semesters. This honor is awarded to the student top notchers in the University for every Curriculum Year Level.
SUMMA CUM LAUDE
A candidate in bachelor’s degree program is granted with a latin honor, SUMMA CUM LAUDE or greatest distinction who met the following requirements:
- He/she has earned all units required for graduation in the University.
- With general weighted average of at least 1.24.
- With no grade below 1.75 in any subjects enrolled.
MAGNA CUM LAUDE
A candidate in the bachelor’s degree program is granted with distinction of MAGNA CUM LAUDE, after having met the following requirements:
- He/she has earned at least 75% of total number of units required for graduation in the University.
- With general weighted average of at least 1.25.
- With no grade below 2.00 in any of the subject enrolled.
- He/she has residence of at least six (6) consecutive semester’s immediately preceding graduation.
CUM LAUDE
A candidate in the bachelor’s degree program is granted with CUM LAUDE or “with distinction” after having met the following requirements:
- He/she earned at least 75% of the total number of units required for graduation in the University.
- With general weighted average of at least 1.75.
- With no grade below 2.25 in any of the subject enrolled.
- He/she has residence of at least six (6) consecutive semester’s immediately preceding graduation.
- Latin honors are based solely in scholastic performance and should properly apply only to graduates who are conferred with a formal college or post-college degree.
AWARDS OF DISTINCTION
The awards of distinction are granted to candidate in the Graduate School Programs with exemplary academic performance and have completed all academic requirements including their theses/dissertation within the prescribed period of residency. Guidelines:
- With weighted average of at least 1.25 in the academics as well as thesis/dissertation
- With no grade below 1.50 in all subjects including thesis/dissertation
NON BACCALAUREATE COURSE
WITH HIGHEST HONOR – Obtained a weighted average of 1.0-1.5 and no grade below 1.75 in any subject provided that all units required for graduation have been earned in the University.
WITH HIGH HONOR – Obtained a weighted average of 1.45 – 1.25 and no grade below 2.0 in any subject provided he/she has residence of at least four (4) consecutive semester’s immediately preceding graduation.
WITH HONOR – Obtained a general weighted average of 1.75-1.46 and no grade below 2.25 in any subject provided he/she has residence of four (4) consecutive semesters, immediately preceding graduation.
