JAG Center for Prof. Dev’t conducts Nat’l Symposium  on K-12 Teaching, Learning


The University of Northeastern Philippines in cooperation with JAG Center for Professional Development conducted a 2-Day Live-Out National Seminar-Workshop on K-12 Teaching and Learning; Facilitating Learning: Through Learner Centered Strategies held September 13-14, 2014 at the UNEP Gymnasium.

 

The activity was attended by faculty and students of teacher education programs in higher education institutions around different schools in Bicol region.

The competitive resource speakers of the said activity were Prof. Roderick M. Aguirre, K-12 Preschool/Language Consultant of the Department of Education and Dr. Maria Rita D. Lucas, Chair of  the  Education  Department  of
Centro Escolar University, President of Early   Childhood    Association   of     the Philippines and also the author of the books Facilitating Learning/Child and Adolescent.

The event was spearheaded by Dr. Jina-Luz Z. Alfelor, PSDS and UNEP Professor. The highlights of the seminar were the different lectures on K-12 and Facilitating Learning to mention viz:

The first lecture was on special topics about the importance and advantages of K-12 Curriculum as well as the new trends in education by Prof. Roderick M. Aguirre. He talked more about ASEAN 2015 and its effect on education aspect.

The second lecture was on the subject about Facilitating Learning by Dr. Maria Rita D. Lucas.  She reviewed important concepts in Facilitating Learning which was a great help for future teachers and teachers who attended the seminar. Also, she stressed the key through a learner-centered classroom having different strategies needed in order to apply such thing.

After the lectures, impressions were given by the representatives per participating school bringing their learned concepts, lessons, and added experiences during the 2-day National Seminar-Workshop.

The event was ended with the distribution of special awards, certificates of appearance and participations to all the participants.
