The College of Engineering & Architecture Department of the University has been in existence since 1963. Its operation started with the offering of the general engineering course, a two-year program consisting of a basic curriculum which integrates the basic courses. The program provided the students a well-balance technological education in their first two years, enabling them to pursue any field in engineering and architecture programs.
Civil Engineering, a five year program, was the first complete course offered by the department and its first graduates were produced in 1968. This degree was followed by Architecture. Since then hundred of graduates were produced, majority of which successfully passed their respective licensure examination and found employment in the region and in other parts of the country and the world.
The number of course offerings has grown through the years, to meet the nation’s growing need for technological men in its process of development and expansion. During the school year 1982-1983 the complete course in Electrical Engineering was offered and produced its first successful graduates in 1985. Because of the commitment of the university to provide quality and affordable education to all, short term courses were also offered for those who seek immediate employment. These short term-courses are the Two-year General Radio Communication Operator, one-year Auto Diesel Mechanic and one-year Auto Electronic Technician. These non-degree courses are another alternative for low income family in providing their children acquire short term courses but highly competitive not only in domestic industry but also abroad.
Indeed, because of this ever-flourishing department, The University of Northeastern Philippines could be rightfully called as one of the primary contributors in helping the government realize its trust of making the country totally industrialized and this shows how the department metamorphosed from its humble beginnings to being a premier contributor of nationally and globally competitive technical human resources.
MISSION
The mission of the College of Engineering and Architecture is reflective of the University of Northeastern Philippines mission that is to develop graduates that are acceptable and responsive to the changing needs and challenges of the Philippine society and in harmony with regional and national goals.
GOALS AND OBJECETIVES
The College of Engineering and Architecture has the following objectives:
- Develop the youth as leaders and as professionals that are trainable in the various technological field of an industrialized world.
- Provide for the enhancement of the potentials of the students as a human being and for the integration of values education for national unity and discipline
- Ensure students with the essential foundation for their development as productive citizen of the country
- Produce graduates that will match the requirements of the different technological agencies and the demands of the industry.
The department has the following special objectives:
- Develop interest of students in productive curricular activities.
- Provide extension services in the community to improve their quality of life.
